About

About TidePool Press

TidePool Press publishes shorter biographies, memoirs, local histories, business commentaries and other works of high-quality non-fiction. The business is split between a commercial press that develops and markets to a retail audience and a private press that produces titles for a non-public market. Occasionally the latter will cross over into the former. Both the public and private sides have a signature style that emphasizes clean, short, smart, well-written, reasonably priced and graphically elegant titles that are engaging to read.

We believe that some of the most interesting stories are right in front of us, in small tide pools dense with marine life often overlooked by ocean grazers prowling for big fish.

Commercial Press

TidePool Press produces books for marketing to a retail audience. We work with experienced and, occasionally, first-time authors to edit, design, print and distribute their manuscripts through a wide network of independent and national booksellers. Generally, these books range from 200 to 300 pages (some shorter), with the length suiting the topic, and often include one or more research-related sections such as footnotes, bibliography and index.

Private Press

In addition to books available for sale commercially, TidePool Press produces titles intended for private distribution. We have worked with corporations, families, universities and foundations to present their unique histories, often through the assistance of professional writers and authors. Sometimes, titles from our private press will cross over into the commercial realm.

Characteristics of a TidePool book:

  • Gracefully written
  • High production value, economically achieved and graphically appealing, reader friendly design
  • Length will suit the topic (usually shorter, not longer)
  • Targeted niche appeal
